In what sounds like a similar deal to the one Topshop has with The Bay in Canada, WWD reports that Topshop and Topman departments are coming to 14 Nordstrom locations this September. Instead of The Bay's franchised shop-in-shops, these will be departments within Nordstrom. Topshop has slowly been rolling out locations in the US since their New York flagship opened in SoHo in 2009, with locations in Las Vegas and Chicago open and another coming soon in Los Angeles. These will be smaller than the ones opening at The Bay as most Nordstrom locations are smaller than The Bay's massive, Macy's-esque real estate. The real question I have is where in the store these are going to be built and what other departments are going to lose square footage as a result? My guess is that the Topshop departments will be carved out of BP and the Topman units will share room with The Rail, but nothing has been confirmed. Maybe if replaced the sad, abandoned St. John departments, nobody would notice. Just my wishful thinking.
